Wednesday, 4 June 2008

Lima (Agenzia Fides) - Facing the need for adequate formation for those entrusted with the close accompaniment of families in living and carrying out their mission, the Archdiocese of Lima Family Commission will begin offering a formation program for family pastoral care workers, entitled: "A new focus on Pastoral Care of the Family," which will be divided in three parts and run from June 10 to November 27.
The objective of the program is to provide pastoral workers with a formation opportunity that will prepare them for this apostolate, promote principles and formative activities based on a spirituality of communion, and offer criteria and orientations to those who work in this area, that they may develop a method geared towards holiness.
This program will last 24 weeks and will include about 72 academic hours. The themes that will be addressed are the following: "Perspective of the human person," "Human love in Sacred Scripture," "Human Communication," "Love and Sexuality," "Anatomy and physiology of human procreation," "Marriage and the Family in Canon Law," "Marriage and the Family in Civil Law," "Family Psychology," "Pastoral Methods and Group Dynamics," and "Meaning and Task of Family Pastoral Care." The last section will hold the following themes: "Pastoral Accompaniment for Marriage I and II," "Pastoral Accompaniment for the Family I, II, and III," and " Mission and Profile of the Family Pastoral Care Worker."
