Bogota (Agenzia Fides) - With the theme, “The Truth Shared,” the Communications Department of CELAM has organized a Continental Meeting of Catholic Press on May 28, 29, and 30, which will take place in the Colombian Bishops’ Conference headquarters in Bogota.
The Meeting is intended for directors of magazines and newspapers, editors, and journalists of Latin America and the Caribbean, in order to reflect on the importance of written communication for the Church and establish a role for communication in which significant events of the different regions of this continent could be publicized. It is also meant to promote an exchange of knowledge, develop skills in designing newspapers, as well as to develop strategies in conjunction with the goals of the Great Continental Mission. The Meeting hopes to spread public awareness and promote the mission of communications workers, allowing for a more profound reflection on the various world situations.
For each of the sessions, there will be a select group of speakers who will allow for an exchange, debate, update, and conclusion on the themes, which will be discussed among directors, editors, writers, researchers, academics, students, and priests. There will also be a project fair and a communications products exposition, to show the effort and accomplishments of the participants. During the three days, there will be activities of formation and training in designing periodicals, with the help of experts in various areas.
