Friday, 9 May 2008

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - The Day for Newly Baptized has been organized with the intention of making the new faithful realize a fundamental truth: “the Church is my family,” said the Vice-President of the Association of Lay Catholics in the Diocese of Hong Kong, that organized this day of formal reception of all those who have received the Sacraments of Christian Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist) in the Easter Vigil. According to a report from the Kong Ko Bao (the Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), this recently celebrated event organized by the Association featured a presentation on the history of the Church, texts for spiritual reading, and religious objects for the newly baptized who participated in the celebration. According to spiritual director Fr. Francio Lau, “the Church is a family. Whoever wants to be a good Catholic should draw strength from this family.” (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 9/5/2008; righe 11, parole 145)
