AFRICA/REPUBLIC OF CONGO - Rector of the Philosophical Interdiocesan Major Seminary “George F. Singha,” in Brazzaville appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on 22 February 2008, appointed Father Antonio Mabiala, of the clergy of the diocese of Pointe-noire, Rector of the Philosophical Interdiocesan Major Seminary “George F. Singha,” in Brazzaville.
The new Rector was born September 23, 1966 and is originally from Cabinda (Angola). He studied at the “Emile Biayenda” Major Seminary in Brazzaville. He was ordained a priest on July 14, 1966, in Pointe-noire. He served as a parish vicar, mainly in the rural areas and later was sent to Rome to finish studies in Sacred Scripture which he hopes to finish before returning to Congo, with a Doctorate.
