OCEANIA/PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Appointment of Rector of Good Shepherd Inter-diocesan Seminary in Mount Hagen

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect for the Congregation of the Evangelisation of Peoples, on December 7, 2007 appointed Fr. Peter Dikos, SVD, Rector of Good Shepherd Inter-diocesan Seminary of the Archdiocese of Mount Hagen (Papua New Guinea).
The new Rector was born August 13, 1967 in Zilina, Slovakia. He studied philosophy and theology in his homeland, and he studied for a Licentiate in Canon Law from 1991-93 at the Pontifical University Gregoriana in Rome, and later earned a Doctorate in Canon Law from St. Paul University in Ottawa (Canada), where he studied from 2002-2005). He has also ministered has follows: Director of Postulants and parish priest in Slovakia; assistant pastor and pastor in Papua New Guinea, as well as Judicial Vicar of the Marriage Tribunal, also in Papua New Guinea; Defender of the Bond in the Appeal Tribunal in Ottawa (Canada); Academic Dean of Studies in Good Shepherd Seminary in Papua New Guinea (since 2005); Judge in the Appeal Tribunal in Mount Hagen (since 2005).
