Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, on 7 September 2007, appointed as Rector of Saint Augustin major inter-diocesan seminary for theology in the archdiocese of Kisangani (Democratic Republic of Congo), Rev. D. Edouard Mombili of the archdiocesan clergy of Kisangani.
The new rector was born in 1960, and after attending Sainte Therese minor seminary in Kisangani, he studied philosophy at Saint Augustin major inter-diocesan seminary for theology Kisangani and theology at the major seminary in Bunia. He was ordained a priest on 31 July 1988. After two years of parish ministry he was sent to study Church History at the Gregorian University in Rome, where he obtained a doctorate in 1999. Since returning to his home country he has been chancellor of the archdiocese, rector of Saint Jean propaedeutic seminary and rector of Sainte Therese minor seminary, Vicar general of the archdiocese of Kisangani.
