ASIA/TAIWAN - Christmas lights of hope brighten Luo Dong hospital

Tuesday, 18 December 2007

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) - “The birth of Jesus brings us hope and light which dispel darkness and evil, we are all illuminated by the light of Christ”. In preparation for the Nativity of Jesus the great light of Christmas was lit with a prayer at St Mary's Hospital at Luo Dong. According to Christian Life Weekly, issued by the archdiocese of Tai Pei, the light was lit by Camillian provincial Superior Fr. Giuseppe Didone, the vice rector of hospital pastoral Fr. Matteo Kao, and the lay director of the hospital in the presence of the hospital staff and patients and members of their families. The light of hope is now present in a place of suffering and trial, bringing peace and blessings to the patients. To welcome the light in joyful waiting for Christmas the hospital community offered three gifts: a heart to represent the heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the service of loving care offered to the sick; a start to represent the light in the darkness; a guardian angel to protect the health of all. At the end of the prayer those present invoked the Lord's blessings with a beautiful Christmas hymn. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 18/12/2007 - righe 18, parole 196)
