EUROPE/ITALY - New National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 9 November 2007 appointed Rev. Giovanni Attilio Cesena, of the archdiocesan clergy of Milan, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Italy for a five year term (2007-2012).
The new national director was born in Milan 1 October 1956. He studied in the Milanese seminary and was ordained a priest on 14 October 1980. Since his ordination he has ministered as follows assistant priest at Castellanza (1980/1986), secretary to Cardinal Carlo M. Martini (1986/1992), parish priest at Varese (1992/1998), Director of the diocesan missions office and the Pontifical Mission Societies (since 1998), Coordinator of Lombardy Regional Mission Commission (since 2001), Member of the presidency of Fondazione Missio (since 2005).
