ASIA/INDIA - New rector appointed for Vianney Bhavan Regional Philosophy Seminary in Gopalpur

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 19 October 2007, appointed Rev. Thomas Parayil, of the diocesan clergy of Berhampur, Rector of Vianney Bhavan Regional Philosophy Seminary in Gopalpur, in the diocese of Berhampur.
The new Rector was born on 24 May 1964 in Kerala (India). He attended St. Peter minor seminary in Berhampur and continued his studies at Morning Star College at Barrackpore, west Bengala. He was ordained a priest on 14 April 1991 for the diocese of Berhampur. He has a doctorate in moral theology from the Alfonsianum College in Rome. He has served as follows: parish priest, rector of the Apostolic School, rector of Berhampur minor seminary, member of the Diocesan Finance Committee, defender of the marriage bond at the Regional Ecclesiastical Marriage Tribunal, ad interim rector of Vianney Bhavan Regional Philosophy at the moment of his appointment as rector.
