Roma (has been World Rosary Day. Thousands of Catholics all over the world will pray with rosary beads in hand at the same time. Religious institutes, lay movements, parishes, families are encouraged to pray the rosary on this occasion at home, with friends, in community in a sports stadium or in church.
This Simultaneous Rosary Prayer was first organised in 1996 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of John Paul II. Some twenty countries joined in the initiative. On the World Rosary Day in the year 2000 more than 140 countries took part, organising the recitation of the Rosary in churches, on the streets, in cathedrals, city squares, hospitals, schools. Many of the events were broadcast on radio and television. Millions of Catholics were united in the prayer of the Rosary and the number grows every year. The intentions for this special Day include world peace, for respect for life, for families for the unborn child, for the Pope, priests and priestly and religious vocations,.
