EUROPE/IRELAND - Pontifical Holy Childhood Mission Society organises first National Day of Prayer for Children 12 October

Tuesday, 2 October 2007

Dublin (Agenzia Fides) - The national office of the Pontifical Holy Childhood Mission Society in Ireland has organised the first National Day of Prayer for Children to be held on Friday October 12. The news was communicated to Fides by Fr Ed Grimes, CSSp, national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Ireland. Fr Grimes said that the mission packet of a poster, a prayer service, a special Mass for children in need, and a guide to praying the mission rosary was launched by Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, archbishop of Dublin, in the Pro-Cathedral. In supporting the Day the Archbishop of Dublin stated that “In prayer we express our hope for a world that is more just and more peaceful and where children can touch all our hearts through witnessing to the special gifts of childhood: innocence, goodness, and hope for the future. If all of us - parents, teachers and children - work together, the Day of Prayer will be a wonderful occasion to spur us all on to work for a world which will give all children the hope of a worthy future”.
