AMERICA/HAITI - National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies appointed

Vatican (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 25 May 2007 appointed Rev Clark de la Cruz of the diocesan clergy of Hinche. National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Haiti for a five year term (12.11.2006-11.11.2011).
The new National Director was born in Hinche on 6 April 1954 and ordained a priest on the 23 September 1984. He studied philosophy (1978/80) at Cazeau Major Seminary and theology (1980/84) at Turgeau. He obtained a doctorate in philosophy at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome (1990/1994) and a Licentiate in Canon Law Administration Practice (1994/1996) at the Congregation for Catholic Education. He has served as assistant priest at Hinche Cathedral, diocesan Youth Chaplain, assistant priest in Capena (Italy). Between 1986 and 1990 professor of philosophy at Dumarsais Estimé High School in Hinche; between 1995 and 1997 Assistant-Professor at the Pontifical Urban University (faculty of philosophy) and collaborator with the Pontifical Holy Childhood Mission Society; since 1997 professor of philosophy at Haiti interdiocesan seminary; since 2002 vice rector of the same seminary and rector of the section for philosophy.
