Friday, 24 February 2012

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) - "We hope that the material distributed helps to convey the message to the faithful, to mobilize the whole community" in order to live well during the Lent period, as indicated by the Holy Father: "We must consider how to rouse one another to love and good works "(Heb. 10, 24). With this wish the Commission for Social Development of the Regional Episcopal Conference of Taiwan and Caritas in Taiwan, sent a letter to the parish priests of the island with the material to guide the faithful in the Lenten journey towards Easter. The letter invites us to take into consideration as a reference point the Pope's Message for Lent, which gives a summary of the key points that help to clarify the sense that the Holy Father intends to give to the participation in works of charity. Furthermore, the letter is accompanied by a DVD containing 8 videos showing the work of Caritas in Taiwan and the Pope's appeal for peace and the protection of land; a flag representing the 8 goals to be achieved by 2015, helping the faithful’s Lenten spirituality; a pink paper flower which symbolizes the beauty and fragrance of good works and prayer; a large bag made by mentally disabled so that they, too "are given an opportunity."
