EUROPE/ITALY - Festival, prayer and reflection on mission for 1,300 children at National Meeting of the Pontifical Society for Holy Childhood

Latina (Agenzia Fides) - About 1,300 boys and girls, members of the Holy Childhood Association in Italy from dioceses all over the country will travel to Latina, near Rome, for a National Holy Childhood Day at the parish church of San Marco, on Saturday 16 June. The Day will consist of games, prayers and reflection on themes of mission and how young people can help their less fortunate brothers and sisters in the south of the world. There will be more than 50 laboratories, along the streets close to the church of San Marco, to involve the local people with dance, songs and games, to help the participants learn more about the people and the cultures of the world.
From writing with Chinese lettering to African jambes, from making Maori masks to Latin American musical instruments. The highlight of the day will be an open air evening Mass presided by Bishop Giuseppe Petrocchi, Bishop of Latina, Terracina, Sezze and Priverno. The Pontifical Society for Holy Childhood, present in 150 countries all over the world organises initiatives of missionary animation and formation to help children and young people grow in awareness of their mission and educate them to a sense of responsibility and universal solidarity.
