Wednesday, 20 December 2006

Aachen (Agenzia Fides) - “Tianay ny Haritanan’Atra: “Children for Creation” is the title of the 2007 Sternsinger Solidarity Campaign. In Bamberg, Baviera, on Friday 29 December about 1,500 children representatives of the Sternsingers of Holy Childhood Germany, all over the country will gather for the official launching of the 2007 Sternsinger Solidarity Campaign. In the presence of Archbishop Ludwig Schick of Bamberg, Mgr. Winfried Pilz, director of Holy Childhood Germany and Fr. Andreas Mauritz, president of the German Catholic Youth Association BDKJ, the children will also solemnly renew their mission promise. For the 49th year Holy Childhood Sternsingers will go from house to house to sing and collect money for less fortunate children. This year the funds will go the help children in Madagascar. The campaign motto is:
Throughout the Christmas holiday time the children, dressed as the Three Wise Men and carrying the Star, will knock on the front doors of homes all over Germany. About half a million children belonging to Germany’s 12,500 Catholic parishes will go from house to house collecting money for less fortunate brothers and sisters and leaving behind them the blessing of the new born Christ Child, marking the house with the letters C+M+B, Christus mansionem benedicat - Christ Bless this House.
The motto Children for Creation intends to underline that children can help protect the environment of which they will be in charge in the future. The motto was chosen to warn of the dangers which threaten Creation in Madagascar and all over the world particularly in the “third world”, and prevent development. Holy Childhood children wish to show concern for their brothers and sisters who face such difficulties and the funds collected will support programmes to improve environment conditions and also teach children to respect nature. “With our solidarity we can help preserve God’s Gift of Creation in Madagascar and other poor countries so children live longer” Mgr. Pilz writes in his presentation of the Campaign 2007. (MS) (Agenzia Fides 20/12/2006 - 31 righe, 420 parole)
