AFRICA/KENYA -Fourth National Mission Congress

Nairobi (Agenzia Fides)- Catholics from all over Kenya have gathered in Nairobi for the 4th National Mission Congress. “We are about seventy, priests, diocesan and religious, women religious and lay people from all the different parish realities in Kenya. And we have come together to discuss the future of mission in Kenya” national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies Italian missionary Fr. Eugenio Ferrari, told Fides.
The congress 4-9 December is being hosted by the community of the Demesse Sisters. “Yesterday we discussed the question of holiness, today we will focus on missionary spirituality and tomorrow the main topic will be Holy Childhood spirituality” Fr Ferrari told Fides. Themes for discussion include the missionary spirituality of Mary, the missionary experience of a missionary coordinator, the missionary spirituality of the laity.
A group of 85 children members of Holy Childhood of the archdiocese of Kisumu is expected to join the participants.
The Mission Congress will issue a final document on plans for missionary activity in the next 12 months. Proposed initiatives include a national meeting for Holy Childhood children. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 6/12/2006 righe 19 parole 189)
