VATICAN - Catholic Social Doctrine in the formation to the Religious Life: international study seminar 12 and 13 October

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The true meaning of consecration to the religious life does not distance men and women from the world, indeed it strengthens their desire and commitment to serve society for and with the love of Christ and to promote justice and peace. This will be the central thought for reflection at an international Study Seminar in the Vatican 12 and 13 October on the theme: “Consecrated Life and the Social Doctrine of the Church: paths of formation”.
Promoted jointly by the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace and religious promoters of justice and peace and integrity of creation at the international level (JPIC), the Seminar will be held at the offices of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace in Rome, Palazzo San Calisto, with the participation of scholars, experts and operators in the field.
The Seminar will be presided by Cardinal Renato Martino, president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace and themes for reflection will include - Thursday 12 October - Consecrated life and present day difficulties for justice and peace, Theological and Spiritual significance of the relationship between consecrated life and social doctrine. Friday 13 October, How the Compendium of Catholic Social Doctrine can contribute to the formation of Religious men and women.
