AFRICA/ANGOLA - Appointment of the Bishop of Kwito-Bié

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On March 28, the Holy Father appointed the Reverend Vicente Sanombo, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Huambo, until now vicar general and parish priest of the Cathedral, as bishop of the diocese of Kwito-Bié, Angola.
Msgr. Vicente Sanombo was born on 23 October 1964 in Cangenge, Angola. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at the Christ the King Major Seminary of Huambo, and was ordained a priest on 6 November 1992.
He holds a licentiate in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute. He has held the offices of bursar, rector of the minor seminary, rector of the philosophy seminary of Huambo, and head of the Good Shepherd Pastoral Centre. Since 2004 he has served as lecturer in Sacred Scripture at the Christ the King Major Seminary of Huambo; since 2009, parish priest of the Cathedral; since 2010, vicar general; and since 2019, assessor of the Episcopal Conference of Angola and São Tomé.
