AFRICA/BURUNDI - Appointment of the new Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On November 27, 2023, Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, appointed the Rev. Fr. Juvenal Nzohabonayo of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Gitega as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of Burundi for a five-year period.
Born in Bihanga in 1966, Father Nzohabonayo was ordained a priest on 15/8/1999. He holds a Master's degree in philosophy from the Catholic University of Abidjan (2012-2015). Former parish priest in Makebuko and Episcopal Vicar (2005-2021), he has been a professor of Philosophy at the Major Seminary of Bujumbura since 2015. Since 2020 he has been diocesan director of the Pontifical Mission Societies and National Secretary for Missionary Childhood. (EG) (Agenzia Fides, 7/2/2024)
