Awali (Agenzia Fides) - Today, January 12, 2024, the Church in Bahrain celebrates the Patronal Feast of Our Lady of Arabia and Family Day. "This is one of the most important events that takes place on the grounds of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Arabia in Awali, where thousands of people of different nationalities and cultures come together and live an experience of communion", describes the Rector of the Cathedral, Father Saji Thomas (OFMCap), who highlighted to Fides the importance of this day, during which masses are celebrated in different languages and events such as cultural performances, music and games take place throughout the day. "The theme we have chosen for Family Day is 'Embracing Diversity and Celebrating Unity in a single Spirit,'" said the Rector, who is also the spiritual director. "There is something really comforting about getting together with family and friends, which is why we have organized this special event, a day full of joy and a lively atmosphere that fosters a sense of belonging.
The celebrations on this day promise this and much more, ensuring that everyone finds something that captures their interest and brings them joy".
The celebration for the Feast of Our Lady of Arabia began with a Novena on Wednesday, January 3, during the evening masses. "It is a meeting of unity, faith and harmony that brings together people from all walks of life to embrace diversity and celebrate unity in spirit," added Vicar Apostolic of Northern Arabia Aldo Berardi, O.SS.T, who presided over the solemn mass this morning.
