AFRICA/MAURITIUS - Fr. Michel Moura, Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies, appointed Apostolic Vicar of Rodrigues

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 20 December, the Holy Father appointed Rev. Sac Michel Moura, of the clergy of the Diocese of Port-Louis, currently Director of the PP.OO.MM. for the territories of the C.E.D.O.I. and Episcopal Vicar of the Diocese of Port-Louis, as Apostolic Vicar of the Apostolic Vicariate of Rodrigues.
His Exc. Msgr. Michel Moura was born on 28 September 1962 in Vacoas-Phoenix, Mauritius.
He was ordained a priest on 6 August 2006 for the Diocese of Port-Louis.
He has held the following positions: Parish Vicar (2006-2009) and then Parish Priest (2009-2011) of Saint Sauveur, Bambous; diocesan chaplain of the Jeunesse ouvrière chrétienne Movement (J.O.C.) (2008-2011); Vicar (2011-2012) and subsequently Administrator (2012-2016) of the Saint Louis Cathedral, Port-Louis; parish priest of Saint Cœur de Marie, Port-Mathurin, Rodrigues (2016-2017); Parish Priest of Saint Esprit, Bel Air; Vicar General and Secretary of the Presbyteral Council (since 2018). Since 2020 he has been Director of PP.OO.MM. for the territories of the Episcopal Conference of the Indian Ocean (C.E.D.O.I.) and, since 2023, Episcopal Vicar for the Pastoral Care of the Family of the Diocese of Port-Louis.
