Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father has appointed Msgr. Samuele Sangalli, until now official of the Dicastery for Bishops, as under-secretary of the Dicastery for Evangelization, Section for first evangelization and the new particular Churches. Monsignor Sangalli succeeds Reverend Father Ryszard Szmydki, O.M.I, who had been appointed by the Holy Father under-Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples on September 28, 2017.
Msgr. Sangalli was born in Lecco, Italy, on 10 September 1967 and was ordained a priest on 8 June 1996 for the archdiocese of Milan. He was awarded a degree in educational sciences from the University of Rome Tre, a doctorate in philosophy from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, and a licentiate in spiritual theology from the Pontifical Theological University and Pontifical Institute of Spirituality “Teresianum”, Rome. He is an official of the Dicastery for Bishops and professor at the Pontifical Gregorian University and the Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli (LUISS), Rome.
