Bora Bora (Agenzia Fides) - "I don't know how to describe the palpable feeling of a real presence that enveloped everyone: Catholics or Protestant brothers. All together they had put their hands on shovels and concrete and all received that caress that hovered light and real", writes Fr. Sandro Lafranconi in reference to the blessing of the new parish complex dedicated to Blessed Pope John Paul I in the parish of Bora Bora (see Fides, 10/9/2022).
"During the ceremony - continues the missionary - while we were chanting the name of Blessed Albino Luciani, the catechist from Bora Bora discovered the image of our protector who conveyed a sense of profound serenity to the evangelizers of the Roromatai".
Telling Fides about the emotions of the event, Fr. Lafranconi underlined the immense participation and joy of those present. "They were all really very happy. The parables of mercy proclaimed for the occasion were the right light for this moment and the joy of God for those who returned or found themselves. The reading of chapter 15 of Luke on this 24th Sunday in the time of the Church was the shining spark to present the figure of Pope Luciani: a passionate catechist but also a man of peace and serenity."
"In the evening, immediately after the inauguration, concludes Father Lafranconi, we met for the first meeting during which we discussed the theme: renewing ourselves in times of Synod". (SL/AP) (Agenzia Fides, 14/9/2022)
