"On the occasion of this Eucharistic celebration that marks the forty years of existence of the diocese of Grand Bassam, the Lord wants to accompany you in your daily life, to make you collaborators in his work, that of integral human development", the Cardinal added. . The first parish priest of the diocesan Church of Abidjan invited Grand-Bassam to take the opportunity of the Synod on Synodality taking place in the Church to further strengthen the unity of the ecclesial body, to renew effective pastoral action, to take up its challenges , specifically, the construction of the Cathedral. Finally, Cardinal Kutwa addressed his grateful acknowledgment to Archbishop Raymond Ahoua, Bishop of the Diocese of Grand-Bassam for the practicality with which he carries out pastoral care. Grand-Bassam was established as a diocese in 1982. Its first priest, Father Michel Boa Aka, was ordained in 1984 by Monsignor Joseph Akichi, the first Bishop of Grand-Bassam.
