EUROPE/IRELAND - Appointment of the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies, Fr. Michael Kelly SPS

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – On October 21, 2021 Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Fr. Michael Kelly, of St. Patrick's Society for Foreign Missions (SPS) as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Ireland for a five-year period (2021 -2026).
The new National Director is 71 years old and was ordained a priest 43 years ago. After his ordination, he was assigned to the diocese of St. George, in Grenada. Then in 1988 he was appointed Director of Vocations of his institute for Scotland and England. He studied Biblical Pastoral in Rome. In 1994 he carried out his service in South Africa, in the diocese of Witbank and then as a formator in the philosophical Seminary of his institute. In 2009 he returned to Ireland and was appointed parish administrator and parish priest. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 23/12/2021)
