Taipei (Fides Service) - The Salesian family in Taiwan gave a warm welcome to Salesian rector major Rev Pascual Chavez, accompanied by Rev Savio Hon superior of the Chinese province after his visit to Macao and Hong Kong, to take part in celebrations for 100 years of presence in China. Christian Life Weekly says 30 Salesian priests concelebrated Mass with Bishop Bosco Liu Chi Nan, the rector and the Provincial in the chapel of the Salesian Technical School in Tanan diocese.
After the Mass Rev. Chavez listened to a report on the activity of the Salesian community in Taiwan and he said: “As rector major we are here to renew the Salesian spirit and carry on the work of God”. He stressed the importance of attention for young people “they need to be loved, understood and accompanied ”.
The Chinese Salesian province includes Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and is composed of 130 Salesian fathers, 60 Salesian sisters and 20 Sisters Announcers of the Lord flanked by the great Salesian family which continues to support mission in China in the name of St John Bosco.
