ASIA/HONG KONG - “Hand in Hand Helping the Poor”: theme of Lenten solidarity campaign 2006

Hong Kong (Fides Service) - “Hand in Hand Helping the Poor” is the theme chosen by Hong Kong diocese for its Lenten solidarity campaign 2006. According to the diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao (the Lenten campaign is an annual feature of activities to help the faithful live the true spirit of the Season of Lent in preparation for the joy of Easter.
The campaign preparatory commission, headed by Mgr John Baptist Tsang, diffused copies of Messages for Lent written by Pope Benedict XVI and the Bishop of Hong Kong. Copies were sent to parishes, schools and Catholic institutes. For his part Mgr Tsang addressed an open letter to parishes priests, Religious superiors, directors of Catholic schools, and heads of diocesan commissions urging them to encourage the faithful to take part in the campaign with prayer, fasting, offerings and charity. The preparatory commission prepared and issued special material including a poster, CD and leaflets on the theme for Lent 2006. (Agenzia Fides 27/02/2006 Righe: 24 Parole: 243)
