Taipei (Fides Service) - To help Catholics follow the readings of the Liturgical Year more closely, the John Duns Scotus Bible Reading Promotion Centre in Taiwan has organised a month long special course in February on St Mark’s Gospel.
According to the Taipei diocesan bulletin Christian Life Weekly the course will focus on the context, theological meaning and connection with the spiritual life of the Gospel passages.
The Centre has its own website http://ccreadbible.org according to which the purpose of its activity is to encourage Catholics to read the Scriptures. Centre director Fr Bonaventura Lin, of the Order of Friars Minor, and Superior of the Franciscan Formation House shared this idea with some of the local lay Catholics. By “helping the local Church in Taiwan, teach people to read the Bible and pray the Bible, they centre aims to make the Bible a point of reference with tradition means such as catechesis and “lectio divina”, and also using new IT, media and education at a distance.
