VATICAN - Pope Benedict publishes first Encyclical “Deus Caritas est” on Christian love:addressed to the bishops, priests and deacons, men and women relgious and all the faithful

Vatican City (Fides Service) - In the John Paul II Hall of the Holy See Press Office this morning at midday there was the official presentation of the first encyclical written by Pope Benedict XVI "Deus Caritas est" dated 25 December 2005. The encyclical was presented by Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino, president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, Archbishop William Joseph Levada, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and Archbishop Paul Josef Cordes, president of the Pontifical Council "Cor Unum”. The encyclical consist of two parts. The first is a theological-philosophical reflection on in its different dimensions, the second is about the concrete exercising of Jesus’ commandment to love others. (S.L.)
