ASIA/INDONESIA - Appointment of the Bishop of Purwokerto

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 14 July the Holy Father appointed Rev. Christophorus Tri Harsono as Bishop of the diocese of Purwokerto (Indonesia), currently Vicar General of the diocese of Bogor.
Rev. Christophorus Tri Harsono was born on January 18, 1966 in Bogor. After attending the Stella Maris Minor Seminary in Bogor, he completed his philosophical and theological studies at the Catholic University of Bandung. He was ordained a priest on February 5, 1995 and incardinated in the Diocese of Bogor. He subsequently held the following positions: 1996-1998: Formator at the Minor Seminary of Bogor; 1998-2001: Licentiate Studies in Islamology at the P.I.S.A.I. in Rome; he carried out his first academic year in Cairo (Egypt), at the Dar Comboni-Arabic Study Center; 2001-2014: Rector and Formator of the Major Seminary of Bandung; 2001-2014: Professor of Islamic Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy of UNPAR and of the Catholic Religion and Comparative Religion in the MKU/UNPAR general Studium; 2007-2014: Member of the West Java Civil Association FKUB Forum for Religious Harmony; since 2014: Vicar General of the Diocese of Bogor.
He was also an invited lecturer at the Bandung Islamic State University. For three years he was a member of the Commissions for Interreligious Dialogue and for the Seminaries of the Episcopal Conference. He also held the office of President of the Diocesan Commission for Inter-religious Dialogue in the Diocese of Bogor. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 16/7/2018)
