Lima (Fides Service) - “Boys and girls arise, listen, be nourished by the Eucharist. Start walking with Jesus!” is the theme of International Congress of Family Catechesis Animators organised by the National Office for Family Catechesis to be held 23 -26 February at the Salesian College in Lima. Participants will include bishops, priests, men and women religious, and young animators from all over Peru and from other countries.
Objectives of the event are to encourage animators to strengthen their Christian witness, discover and take paths of integral formation, valorise and celebrate the Eucharist as source and summit of Christian life and light of the world; offer life witness; recognise the importance of their mission as animators of family catechesis; be a bridge for child/parent communication; build paths of communion starting with their own family and for the family.
Preparation for the Congress focuses on reflection on the slogan. To consolidate preparation a national competition was launched on the theme “Life Models for Young People Today”. The objectives were the following: present models of life and holiness for the young people of today to build a new world; help young people understand that a path to holiness is a path to life which overcomes all divisions; valorise persons who draw strength from Christ in the Eucharist to carry on the mission entrusted to the men and women of every era; encourage young people to act in a way that they are bread broken for others.
