ASIA/INDIA - Appointment of Bishop Coadjutor of Alleppey

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Today the Holy Father has appointed the Rev. Msgr. James Raphael Anaparambil, of the clergy of Alleppey, as coadjutor of the diocese of Alleppey, India.
The new Bishop was born on 7 March 1962 in Kandakadavu, (diocese of Alleppey), and studied at the Major Seminary of Alwaye. He was ordained a priest on 17 December 1986 for the clergy of the diocese of Alleppey.
Since priestly ordination he has held the following offices: 1986-1987: chaplain of the Saint Thomas parish in Thumply; 1987-1988: chaplain in the Mount Carmel Cathedral in Alleppey; 1989-1993: prefect and procurator of Sacred Heart Minor Seminary in Maithara, Cherthala, Allappuzha; 1993-1998: studies for Doctorate in biblical theology and Hebrew language at the Pontifical Urbanian University, Rome; 1998-2009: lecturer in biblical theology and Hebrew language at the Pontifical Saint Joseph Seminary, Carmelgiri, Aluva, and Diocesan Director of the Vocational Centre of Kerala; 2009-2011: rector of the Pontifical Saint Joseph Seminary, Carmelgiri, Aluva; 2011-2014: lecturer at Saint Joseph Seminary, Carmelgiri, Aluva; 2014-2016: adjunct vicar general for the clergy, religious and seminarians of Alleppey; since 2016: director of the revision of the Bible in Malayalam at the Centre for Pastoral Guidance in Ernakulam, and seminary lecturer.
