Washington (Agenzia Fides) – The United States Catholic Bishops Conference (USCCB), by means of its Commission for the Latin American Churches has assigned a sum of almost 6 million dollars: 4 to support the pastoral work of the Church in Latin America and in the Caribbean, and about 2 for rebuilding in Haiti.

Projects concerning Haiti are the following:

- formation of 400 pastoral workers from four parishes affected by hurricane Matthew.

- subsidy towards rebuilding church buildings in west Haiti following hurricane Matthew (Vedi Fides 8/10/2016).

"I am deeply moved by the generosity of the Catholics in the United States which has made a great difference in the lives of many people in Latin America and the Caribbean. Their generosity is a reflection of God’s own love and compassion. I see this in the thanks expressed by those affected by Hurricane Matthew. The funds will serve for pastoral projects and also for the rebuilding of churches in Haiti", said the president of the United States Catholic Bishops Conference USCCB, Bishop Eusebio Elizondo, auxiliary of Seattle.
