Mexico City (Agenzia Fides) - According to the National Study on Employment, there are over 2 million children who are employed in Mexico and should not be working in Mexico. To prevent the phenomenon, starting from the second half of this year, recreational centers in public spaces will be set up. The National Institute of Statistics, Geography and Informatics (INEGI) estimates that at least 7 children out of 10 in rural areas of the Country carry out prohibited activities. 43% of them work in the tertiary sector of economy, particularly in the field of tourism. As a result of these figures, the Secretariat for Tourism (Sectur), in coordination with the Governments of Guerrero and Quintana Roo States and the international organization Save the Children, have decided to intervene through the "Free Tourism from Minor Work 2017" Action Plan. Organizations have announced that very soon recreational centers will be opened to secure a safe space to prevent child labor in Guerrero and Quintana Roo States. These are safe community spaces where activities will be carried out in favor of children's development. (AP) (Agenzia Fides, 20/6/2017)
