Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - "The presence of Pope Francis in Korea in 2014 created a change in society. His visit was for the whole nation a very moving and significant moment. Now, thanks to the agreement we signed with the Vatican Secretariat for Communication, we will be able to participate in the mission of evangelical communication, together with the Holy See, also disseminating the speeches and activities of the Holy Father. His word is always of great impact": says Cardinal Andrew Yeom Soo-jung, Archbishop of Seoul to Fides.
Thanks to the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Communications Secretariat, the Archdiocese of Seoul will see to the Korean page of Vatican Radio. The Department of Communications and Media of the Archdiocese has officially assumed the responsibility to translate all the contents provided by the Communications Secretariat in Korean, including the Holy Father's speeches and activities, the activities of the Holy See, information on the universal Church.
The Cardinal tells Fides: "The Pope’s visit in 2014 was an unforgettable moment: Pope Francis met with young people, talked to relatives of the victims of the Sewol shipwreck tragedy, dedicated time to the injured, sick or in mourning, presided over the mass for peace and reconciliation, celebrated the beatification of the 124 Korean martyrs. It was a very important experience for us all, and a very impressive experience, very valuable to the Korean people. The Pope’s message has had a strong impact: Koreans have developed great solidarity, for example, with Christians who suffer in areas such as Syria. And in the spirit of the good Samaritan, the spirit of compassion is seen in society, even towards the brothers who we have at heart: those in North Korea". Now, thanks to the agreement with the Secretariat for Communication, the Pope's word, the Cardinal concludes, "will continue to touch the hearts of people and the Gospel will be widepread in Korea".
