Brisbane (Agenzia Fides) - Among the many initiatives under way for International Women's Day, Catholic Mission in Brisbane has organized an event for its supporters during which stories of missionary women and their extraordinary work for communities and children will be presented. Some of these stories were shared through social media by Catholic Mission in a series called Women of Mission. Launched last week, the series features women that represent the theme of this year's Day: #BeBoldForChange. Women of Mission reports the stories of religious women and secular leaders in the mission, engaged in education, health, social services and spiritual formation in communities in Asia, Africa, America and Australia. Father Brian Lucas, National Director of Catholic Mission, explained that "in almost all the places where the Church exists, there are women committed, both on the frontline and behind the scenes. There are also millions of dedicated lay women and rich in faith. Our series highlights their great commitment and gives insight into what inspires these wonderful women who with their love, compassion, forgiveness and sacrifice inspire us".
