ASIA/HONG KONG - At the Year of the Eucharist closing Mass Bishop Joseph Zen of Hong Kong said the providential event marked “a new beginning for our diocese”

Hong Kong (Fides Service) - During a solemn Mass to close the special Year of the Eucharist, on 6 November in Christ the King parish church, Hong Kong, the Catholic Bishop of Hong Kong Joseph Zen said the year had been a time to look back and take stock and also to make a new beginning. “Now we must continue in the spirit of the Year of the Eucharist and grow in love for the Blessed Sacrament”, the Bishop told those present.
According to Hong Kong’s diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao closing celebrations started with 24 hours of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament followed by the Mass attended by over 800 people. Bishop Zen urged the laity to draw strength from the Eucharist in order to be ever more active in diocesan pastoral activity and social assistance and to keep their eyes on Jesus in the Eucharist the source and summit of life.
