Bogota (Agenzia Fides) - The Colombian parliament approved yesterday, Wednesday, 28 December, a bill for the amnesty of the FARC members (Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces).
This is not however a general amnesty, since the amnesty is applied only to a part of FARC and even some military members.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Justice, amnesty will be applied to only 4,100 guerrillas already arrested, but the total number of FARC members who can benefit from it is about 15,000. This measure is a first step in the disarmament of the FARC, to be realized in the first half of 2017. The procedure has yet to be established in detail, in the meantime, members of the FARC can and should wait in "zones" established for their residence. Now the only thing needed is the signature of President Santos for the application of the measure. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 29/12/2016)
