Cali (Agenzia Fides) - The damage that the war has caused Colombian children continue to affect their lives. Anxiety and depression, behavioral, social, attention and concentration problems are among the most common. This is what emerged during the VI International Congress of Pedagogy and Childhood: Building Peace starting from Early Childhood, in La Sabana, Colombian town of Chia. The armed conflict has left 2 and a half million children victims, according to figures of the Victims Unit published in a study of the University of La Sabana. The Congress, according to information gathered by Fides, addressed the trauma suffered by children, the study of different institutions show the seriousness of violence against children in connection with the conflict. "Paranoia, fear of washing themselves or getting dressed, violent games, incontinence, insomnia, nightmares, apathy and aggression, are the main problems that children who have suffered violence have", indicates one of the studies.
Among the areas of the country most affected by the war, the northern people of the region have historically been the most affected by the guerrilla attacks. In the two departments of El Valle and Cauca more than 170,000 victims among children have been registered, mainly for kidnappings, terrorist attacks, sexual abuse or recruitment.
