Adaba (Agenzia Fides) - "The 'missionary market' is becoming a tradition that Catholics of the small community of Adaba, Ethiopia, organize to collect offerings in favor of the missionaries on the occasion of World Mission Day" (WMD). This is what Don Giuseppe Ghirelli, fidei donum diocesan missionary says to Agenzia Fides (see Fides 11/12/2014). "During this month of October - continues Don Giuseppe -, the missionary children of Adaba prayed for the missionaries and on Saturday morning, they organized a point of sale of our products from our garden to sell at the weekly market and allocate the money to the missionaries. This year there was special attention for World Mission Day dedicated to the Holy Year 'Missionary Church, a witness of mercy'. I used the slogan and the figure of Saint Teresa of Calcutta, that the Italian Church chose for the Day 2016, because Mother Teresa is the patron of the young Church of the Apostolic Prefecture of Robe, where I have been engaged now for two years. Mother Teresa started the Catholic presence in the region of Bale about 30 years ago and personally opened a house in the town of Goba where even today the sisters of Mother Teresa render their service in favor of the poorest of the poor. Today during the Holy Mass we celebrated WMD and prayed for all the missionaries", concluded Fr. Joseph. (GG/AP) (Agenzia Fides 24/10/2016)
