ASIA/HONG KONG - World Mission Sunday initiatives include a Procession with the Blessed Sacrament, meetings and a concert

Hong Kong (Fides Service) - Special initiatives organised by the Catholic diocese of Hong Kong for World Mission Sunday, 23 October, included meetings, a concert and a special Mass followed by a Procession with the Blessed Sacrament. According to the diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao hundreds joined in the Procession from the Church of Our Lady Queen of the Rosary to Tak Sunday School. The procession moved along the city centre streets as a witness to faith in Christ and a means of evangelisation. The Procession ended with solemn Benediction.
Other initiatives included a Crossover Concert for evangelisation organised by the diocesan youth group led by the youth pastoral delegate. The music performed aimed to encourage listeners to reflect on the human person’s relation with God. The concert was attended by enthusiastic Catholic school children, and members of parish groups, associations .
On the same date, 23 October, the church movement Society of Mary Help of Christians marked the 40th anniversary of its presence in Hong Kong with a solemn Mass during which the members renewed their promises of missionary commitment for which music and art are important channels.
