Lahore (Agenzia Fides) - The theater is a powerful means for social change among young people and for spreading a culture of peace and tolerance: with this conviction Caritas in Lahore organized a theatrical performance in recent days at the Renewal Centre, a pastoral structure of the diocese of Lahore, in Youhanabad, Christian area of Lahore. The purpose of this presentation was to highlight some existing social problems and promote peaceful methods and ways to solve them, creating social and religious harmony in society. At the event the Archbishop of Lahore, Sebastian Shaw expressed his joy for this cultural social commitment of young people of the diocese.
Caritas organized the representation in collaboration with the Ajoka Theatre, a theater company committed to spreading awareness about the different existing problems and open issues in the community. Amjad Gulzar, national Director of Caritas Pakistan, remarked that Caritas, together with the work of support and assistance of people in distress and discomfort, "intends to help spread this awareness of social change at a broader level". Fr. Joseph Shahzad, Executive Secretary of Caritas in Lahore, thanked all those who have made these kind of events possible. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 15/07/2016)
