Luanda (Agenzia Fides) – Locally known as “Entrepreneurs for the Kingdom of God”, women members of the Damas Salesianas association are now active in Angola. According to information sent to Fides by ANS, this “Movement of lay Catholic women, committed within the Salesian Family to working for the world and the Church with an entrepreneurial spirit, continues to spread”.

Mrs Bienvenida Testón, regional directress of the Damas Salesianas for Europe, together with spiritual assistant Eusebio Martinez, recently travelled to Angola for the opening of three Centres: Luanda-San Paolo, Luanda-San José de Nazaret and Benguela. The mission of the Damas Salesiana will focus essentially on human development, evangelisation, and the promotion of respect for human dignity, especially the dignity of women.
The three Centres opened with about sixty Angolan women committed to promoting and working in the programme. Spiritual assistants will provide the women with formation and offer guidance to planning local social projects to meet the needs of the children, young people and women in their respective areas.
