Rome (Fides Service) - Too often we hear of young lives ended in the play ground or the sports field. Children who appeared robust but in fact suffered from some congenital malformation only visible to a specialist .
Children and adolescents today lead an ever more sedentary and TV dependent life despite efforts by parents to enrol children at a very early age in sports courses which fail to foster harmonious growth. Some parents become the severest of coaches for children, others so anxious to protect children with chronic pathology as to deny the, activities compatible with their condition. Certificates of ability to sports often signed in haste .
Faced with this situation Bambino Gesu Children’s Hospital a point of reference in Italy and abroad for child’s health, has organised a meeting on the subject Child, sport and wellbeing for experts in the field on 21 October.
The meeting sponsored by the Italian Health Ministry, and the Società Italiana di Pediatria and Federazione Medico-Sportiva Italiana, will discuss themes such as doping among adolescents, correct diet for the sportsman, trauma, psychological wellbeing connected with physical activity, sports suitable for children with chronic pathologies, medico-legal aspects of medicine of sport.
