Karachi (Agenzia Fides) - "The good news of God's mercy in Urdu is a tool to give all Pakistani citizens, of all religions": this is what Fr. Arthur Charles, a Capuchin friar and editor of the magazine says to Agenzia Fides talking about the weekly "Agahi" (which means "knowledge"), the first in Urdu, which has just celebrated its tenth anniversary. "Agahi was the first Catholic weekly in Urdu, launched on the occasion of the feast of Christ the King, on November 26, 2006. It became very popular immediately, with a circulation of about 10,000 copies every week", says the director to Fides.
In recent days, the celebration of the anniversary gathered hundreds of people in Karachi in St. Patrick's cathedral. The director pointed out that during the work of publication, "we focus on three main principles: to inform, educate, form. Agahi remains faithful to its mission to spread the message of Jesus Christ our Lord".
Father Charles is a professor of dogmatic theology and director of the Catechetical Centre of Karachi. The contents of "Agahi" range from ecclesial news, the Church in Pakistan and other countries in the world, not forgetting biblical, theological, liturgical, moral and social issues.
"In the Jubilee Year, Agahi will spread the universal message of compassion and mercy, which touches every baptized but also all people of good will", said Fr. Charles. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 14/12/2015)
