EUROPE/ITALY - “Morning Watchmen” gather in first extended assembly

Saturday, 21 May 2005

Rome (Fides Service) - The Morning Watchmen are a small group of young people in the diocese of Verona and other diocese in northern and central Italy since 1999. On 15 October 2004 they became a recognised association or ONLUS. After an intense period of formation and a retreat which culminated with the creation of a pastoral plan called Morning Watchmen Programme, the ONLUS is holding its first assembly open to anyone interested in knowing about their work of evangelisation.
Morning Watchmen group is certain that this small but significant experience of mission can be put at the service of other parishes and be open to all since the call to evangelisation is for all Christians.
To make its activity known Morning Watchmen organised an evening of presentation for this evening at 5pm at the Sala Ferro Hall in the building adjoining Desenzano cathedral.
This will be an opportunity to present the activities of the Morning Watchmen and to see photographs and videos of their activity 2004-2005.
Everyone interested in evangelisation is welcome to come.
The assembly will be within an evening “A Light in the Night”, an initiative to evangelise streets and homes live”.
Morning Watchmen is not a movement, or a group or a spirituality. They are young people who want to evangelise other young people with their Morning Watchmen Programme which has no specific spirituality. It was Pope John Paul II who first used the term ‘Morning Watchmen who announce the rising of the sun’ when he addressed about 2 million young people from all over the world who had come to Rome to take part in the 15th World Youth Day.
