Lilongwe (Fides Service)- “We pray for the repose of the soul of the Holy Father, we recall and we reflect on his teaching, his moral and spiritual guidance, his efforts to promote unity in the Church and humanity, his defence of life, his friendship with the poor, the weak and the young; his tireless efforts for peace; his promotion of the culture of life and criticism of culture of death and the evils of capitalism; his promotion of individual freedom and the freedom of peoples”. This tribute was expressed in a statement by the Catholic Bishops of Malawi.
“Many of us have vivid memories the Holy Father’s visit to Malawi in May 1989 when he said: “convert your hearts and you will live” the Bishops concluded. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 7/4/2005 righe 13 parole 140)
