AMERICA/PERU - Putting Pope John Paul II teaching into practice: Catholic Medical Centre Hogar San Camilo cares for HIV+ children and adults, and promotes solidarity and respect for AIDS patients

Lima (Fides Service) - Hogar San Camilo is an important point of reference point for people with AIDS and their families in Peru. The Centre, opened ten years ago, it has assisted 12,000 people directly and indirectly. In Peru 95% of people affected by HIV/AIDS lives in extreme poverty. The Centre promotes total respect for life and it encourages solidarity the basis of inter-personal relations.
