Thursday, 2 July 2015

Jerusalem (Agenzia Fides) – The ceremony of laying the foundation stone for the creation of the "Terra Sancta Museum", a profound desire of the Franciscans of the Custody of the Holy Land, took place at The Franciscan Convent of the Flagellation in Jerusalem. Fr. Eugenio Alliatas OFM, director of the museum, says that the first of three sections to be completed will be the "multimedia center", designed to offer "a very modern multimedia experience to visitors and pilgrims who begin their journey of the Via Dolorosa to the Holy Sepulchre".
The ceremony for the laying of the foundation stone, which took place in recent days, was also attended by the Custos of the Holy Land, Father Pierbattista Pizzaballa, who in his speech stressed that the Terra Sancta Museum "will in fact not only be a place where hundreds of objects will be displayed, but will also be a cultural center that will make the public of all religions, as well as the secular public, aware of the links of the Holy City with the centuries-old Christian traditions, both local and international".
