Tuesday, 9 June 2015

Bogota (Agenzia Fides) - During the Congress of Consecrated Life organized by CLAR (Latin American Conference of Religious), which will be held in Bogota (Colombia), from June 18 to 21, a workshop "Human trafficking: a new Areopagus where life cries, questions and challenges Consecrated Life", will take place. It will be guided by Sister Genoveva Nieto, HC, who has a long experience in pastoral care in the suburbs to free women from this scourge.
According to the organizers, "workshops give 'spirit and life' during Congress", which is a characterized by a strong projection into the future of consecrated life. Therefore workshops are 'fire that kindles other fires', in the face of the urgent need to promote and accompany new communities of consecrated life, with the commitment for new evangelization, for a Church which goes forth and for the poor, and for the coming of the Kingdom".
The Congress has the theme "Future changes in living our charism today" and among the concrete objectives it aims to "propose new alternatives in Consecrated Life, identifying avenues for missionary disciple consecrated life".
A seminar was held in the past by CLAR (in Panama) to address the issue of human trafficking, and to highlight the commitment of many religious communities in various parts of Latin America. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 09/06/2015)
